Default Original keys gone.

My original keys are gone PO must have replaced the locks at one point. I then replaced them again about 4 years ago. Actually the keys I got had one ignition key and one door key. The door key only opened the drivers door. I couldn't lock or open the passenger door with the drivers door key.

That's why I'm thinking the PO replaced the drivers door lock and not the passenger. Anyway to make a short story long I replaced both door locks so I'd have one door key for both locks.

I knew this long ago but never posted. Problem IS, the center rear compartment has a lock on it and guess what? Yep, the door key from the PO doesn't open it, like the passenger door.

How do I open the center compartment lock without the original key?

Don't think it'll help, but I did see Ocean's Eleven a couple times.

Hmmm...I'd probably unscrew the entire frame to work on it outa the vehicle.
Good luck!

You'll have to spend some time on the phone, but here you go...

Start calling locksmiths and see if they have copies of the GM keys on the ring. This was very common years ago ( up to the late 70s or early 80s )

I used to work at a gun shop that also did security/locksmith work and they had a gigantic ring of old GM, Ford and Chrysler keys.

A good locksmith may be able to read the proper key depth with a pick.

i have 4 keys on my 73 's key ring along with the alarm beeper.. 1 black rubber square key,for the ignition,,,,,,1 black rubber round key,to get in both drivers and passenger doors,,,,, 1 red rubber key, for the locking center compartment( i lock my radar dect in there ( Red = Radar)---and last is a blue rubber key--Blue for Back---its the key to open the lock for the tire tub, instead of getting everything re keyed,,,ignition locks ect,, i went with the color coded way, i had the same problem (had no key for center comp,,,so i bought a new lock and color coded ends)

I locksmith can look up the VIN and cut it. Oringal GM keys for that era are still available as well. $3 each.
