Default Color Code help

I am getting ready to recover my seats and replace my door panels on my 75 C3. The question I have is.... How do I know what color red to purchase? Is there a code built into the VIN#? I have looked at the Ecklers catalog color samples, and I can't narrow it down.... Plus after reading some threads, not sure if I want to fool with Ecklers anyway.

Also, has anyone had problems with their electric windows not going all the way up? Mine seem to hit the weather stripping about two inches from the top. While I have my door panels off, I want to fix this problem. I also noticed the previous owner did a little jurry rigging on the wiring to one of the windows, I am going to fix that while I have the panels off as well.

Last thing..... I plan to pull the 350 (non original engine) this fall in order to detail the engine and paint the engine compartment. I keep trying to talk myself into amping up the HP by either reworking the engine I have, or possibly purchasing a new one. On one hand, the engine I have now runs fine and just needs to be dressed up and painted, on the other hand, I keep telling myself since I am not concerned about having a non-original engine, why not splurge and put some extra ponys under the hood. Not that I plan to race it, I just like the idea knowing I could

What would you guys do?

ques #1 on the drivers side door piller is a metal tag which has the word trim with a 3 digit code. this code tells you what color interior came from the factory and if it was vinyl or leather.
