Wrencher gave me a carb part a few weeks back. Refused any type of payment, of course. He just said to help out a forum member sometime. Well, I got my chance. Strangely, MoneyPit's 69 vert is here in central MS while he lives in St. Louis. He's on vacation here working on it and needed a carb rebuild. So I obliged and rebuilt it for him, no charge. It even runs!!
I've sent out a few tach filter parts kits to members. I asked for the same Wrencher did, just pay it forward. Too bad I don't know what happened as in most of the cases, I didn't even get a thank you. However as I know there are some great people here, I wouldn't hesitate to help out again where I can.
Guess like in all other walks of life, both the good and the bad are here on the forum.
Other than the annual Christmas exchange, I sent the Al Knoch Vert Top Installation video to another forum on the promise that he forward it (free of charge) to another member when he was done.
In my LLSOC forum, I sent about $1200 worth of rear end parts (pumpkin, gears, Torsen diff) to another member and just asked that he cover half the shipping.

A friend has been helping my bfriend with my car. I made him the thickest porterhouse I could find with all the trimmings. It's true about you men. Just feed them and they will do anything.
I sent a few clips for the diff yoke to frankenvette (he could not find them anywhere) and he insisted that he pay me. I said no and that the clips would arrive shortly. I just asked him to repay the favor to someone down the line and that I appreciated the flow of info back and forth because we were working on similar projects and wanted his work to proceede because I was a few steps behind.

Other car club I belong to I have been helped with installs and always try and find help to help with others. I have even hosted afew small mod sessions ay my house with food and beer.
Had a forum member send me a seat belt recepticle at no charge and another one sent me three wheel spinner emblems for $5.00. I won't forget their assistance and generosity. I've already given away an original oil pan and will help out as much as I can if any member needs something I have.
CrossedFlags gave me a brand new front lower valence panel for my '79... for free. He ended up not needing it.... met me in a parking lot in the rain and asked for nothing in return.
tracdogg has also swung by my house a couple of times to give me pointers on body work/paint and other things... and it's no short drive from his place to mine.
From all the help around the way I was finally able to help another friend out a few months ago. Marks69BB had his 65 down in Myrtle Beach,SC about 300 miles from home and I was down there at the show. He lost a rear wheel bearing after he got there. We spent the whole weekend replacing the trailing arm and making sure he was road worthy. Saved him having to have someone else do it and a 500 dollar or so rollback ride back home..
I've learned so much here on the forum and from people off the forum that when I see another vette owner in trouble it's all I can do to help.. My wife wasn't to happy though about spending all of our time at the hotel but hey she'll get over it.. Dave..
I've donated some little parts and what-not, but what I really
like to give is the knowledge that I've gained along the way.
I don't trust many mechanics, so I do it ALL by myself.
I never offer to fix someone's vette, but I'll gladly come over
and show them what to do. Yeah - I end up helping, too.

Dave was very helpful with my electrical problems.
Dayum! That took some sacrifice there!! I can only hope that folks like you are around when I need help.
Yep but that's what friends are for... Did I mention it was pouring rain most of the time too.... Luckly I carry a pretty stout tool bag and a local car club member provided a jack and stands.. VanSteel overnighted the trailing arm (150 buck shipping )... Really no surpises. The bolts and the shock mount came right out for the most part.. I put a request out on the forum late friday night and Mike Smith showed up with a shock mount removal tool.. All in all a long weekend but it was good for Mark to be able to drive his car home... Dave..
