How do I disconnect it from the top of the bar on the inside of the firewall?
It's for a 74 corvette, I can feel where it connects to the bar, but just not HOW it connects.

This would be better in tech, label it throttle cable disassembly or something like that.
On a personal note, I just got a job at UW-stevens point teaching chem labs, so I'm moving back to WI. The pay ain't great, but it will pay the bills. Hope everything is well with you.
Naww...I'm getting my MS, and this little teaching job came up in the wife's hometown, they offered, I took it. Realized that I'm burned out on lab work and I'm much better with people then a computer. Looking forward to WI, back to the homeland of brats, cheese and beer

Small clip/hitch-pin holds cable onto throttle rod.
I recall removing the throttle rod from the firewall (2 screws) and that allowed the rod & cable to hang down somewhat for better access. The cable was of course disconnected from carb and throttle bracket. Cable slids into slot on top of throttle rod and held between cable ball end and clip - well gravity too. It was all done while upside down and didn't seem funny at all.
Now i can't forget how much i swore and cussed to reattach that cable & clip. Removed my drivers seat and had to reinstall the throttle rod to firewall 1st for some reason. Then for nearly 30min of pure hell with dust and crud falling to my face and the drop light doing its best to blind me at every critical moment i managed to slip that pin in behind the rod onto the cable - with needle nose pliers. I lost control as the smallest, cheapest part somehow really managed to tee me off. Well u can let us know how it works out (or doesn't). Can't remember why couldn't pull cable inside enough to attach and then feed it back out and then attach throttle rod to firewall.
But now i at least feel much safer driving my '74 than with a 30yr old cable. cardo0
