Default Squeaking rear wheel

I just got an upgrade on my rear end and also had the brakes redone at the same time. I am getting this hi pitch squeaking in the area of the rear passanger wheel. Is it ok to put the car up on stands, take off the tire and start the engine to check the wheels as they turn? this squeaking is driving me nuts, and do not want to take it back to that mechinac (rip off artist, he did not even know that he was suppose to put a certain kind of lube in the rear end (possi something))
Thank God I have good friends that came and check out the rear end after it was done (another horrendous noise after I had the rear end done) They realized it did not have the right lube/fluid.
Thanks for all your help.

Rear wheel noise can be coming from u-joints, wheel bearings, parking brake and the disc brakes. Someone who is familiar with there systems should be able to nail it down pretty quickly. Due to design, C-3 corvettes don't like to run too smoothly with the suspension hanging. My suggestion is call the local Corvette club near-by, if there is one there, and ask who they trust to work on their vettes....G/L...
