Default L88 hood from ebay??

Does anyone have any experience with the fit and finish of this hood from ebay? Very cheaply priced. It has no provisions for latch and hinges though. Hood pins must be used. I dont think that is a very big deal though, it only weighs 8 pounds. Has anyone ever used just hood pins for their hood?

Does it really need to be any stronger then hand layered? It is just going to sit there, it doesnt even have to be strong enough to support itself while opened.

Im sorry I did not really clarify what I am looking for. I am not expecting a 170 dollar hood to not need any body work. Like you said, even your 600 dollar one still needed big bucks in body work. I am wondering if it actually resembles the l88 hoods being sold as in proper dimensions for the scoop etc. and if it will be durable enough for a street driven car.
Has anyone attached their fiberglass hood with just pins, no latches or hinges? I have been looking around for locking hood pins and all I can find are the cheap ricer ones. Does anyone know who sells something that is higher quality then these?

Mr Gasket hood pins Get them from Jegs or other performance suppliers. I don't know if they are still available, but there used to be locking hood pin sets also. I have a set for my Ecklers tilt front end.

My hood from ecklers fit perfect on my 75 but the other day I went to get gas and for got to bolt the hood on and blew off a 70mph the only thing that happened was about a 2 inch crack near the top and the corners at the back got sheared but about an hour of glass work later and it was looking good againg like nothing had happened so I think that ecklers is alright with their hoods.

I am kind of liking the idea of being able to pull off the hood though. Makes things alot easier to get to, especially up front. The ebay hood only weighs 8 pounds so it wouldnt be very difficult to lift it off by yourself. Does anyone know how much the eckler l88 short hoods weigh?

interesting, the Mr Gasket locking hood pins look like the same thing they have on ebay. I wonder if they are any better quality wise.

Sometimes you can take I nice car and put something kinda crummy on it... and it ruins the rest of it.

Like a pretty girl who has rings and pins in her lips, jaw, eyebrow... but she has a great figure and shape... the rings and pins just plain ruin it for some people. Pretty girl BUT...

Sweet vette but whats up with the hood?

Just my .02

I just ordered the L-88 hood from Vanacor with a 4" over stock instead of the regular 2.5 height, price is $425 for the 2.5 and $495 for the 4" height, the 4" is a new item.Ive been checking prices out and there price was the best....shipping to me is $78 .....Corvette Central quoted me $525 for hood plus $243 shipping and there probly the same hood manufacture and then theres blank forgot the name ,anyway they said $780 plus ship $78,
Dont know where they come up with $200 price for ship,as for fit an finish Im already prepared for some issues.

Those dont appear to lock. There is no way I would drive around with 4 hood pins and no latch. Anyone could just pop the hood off. I would need some kind of quality hood pins that lock and dont look tacky. I like the idea of being able to just pop the hood off. Makes working on things up front much easier.
