When i did mine i put heatshield/sounddeadner down first, it
helps alot to keep heat & noise down, had to trim a bit but
it pretty much laid right down quite nicely. it's form molded.
used a little contact cement in the back area. It's a piece
of cake to install.
I agree with Steelblue, I did the same. Depending on the type of carpet you get I was not difficult to install. I put down a heat barrier first that had a foil like material on both sides with an air bubble middle section. It really works. The carpet I used was from ACC.
