correct distributor position ?
pointing at about 7 O'Clock. I have always thought this was the
correct/best position. I have been told by a tech that
the correct position is at about 9 O'Clock. Here are a couple of
pics from a Vette Vues Fact Book. First one is an L88, second
is a base small block. Looks like the tech might be right.

Long answer: The first position in the original position as spec'd by the Chevy engineers. The second position is the result of a service bulletin that came out after a trend was noted in a high number of tach cable failures as a result of the sharp bend if the distributor is installed in the original position.
