Default HELP 1971 LT-1 vert value

I was at a small car show on Sat. and got talking to a guy who has a 71 lt-1 vert. I went over his house yesterday to check it out. He is the 2nd owner and bought it in 1972. 38000 original miles. Green ext with a tan int. and original black conv top. He said he used to drink a bit when he was younger and had 2 small crashes, one on the front and one on the right rear, both have been fixed. The paint isn't original but the correct color and shows its age. The int. is bone stock with nothing ever changed. Just 2 small cracks on the drivers door panel. Original radio. Origtinal numbers matching drive train, including the carb and alt. He took off the AIR system, but still has all the pieces to it. The only things ever changed are the upper and lower rad. hoses, battery, tires and a paint job. Every thing else is original. He never dropped the tank to see if it still has it's tank sticker, but see's no reason it wouldn't be there. The only option I saw was PB, and yes it's a 4 speed. High RPM tach, Transistor ignition and just 1 fuel line. The car is a very nice 10 footer and IMHO is the real deal. He is thinking of selling really soon. My question is what's it worth??????? Please help...Thanks

It is always tough to give an estimate. If the car is real nice still and a good surviver it could go for 30K+. If it needs a lot of work even though it is still original I would say 10 to 15K. To make it back perfect you will end up spending a lot replacing pieces that are just marginal. You could end up doing a full resto or just drive the car the way it is.

Wow, great find! Low miles too maybe, offer 20ish if you think the body and paint is good. Even low mile cars can need alot of work sometimes. If you like it buy it and enjoy the old girl. Be careful and do your homework first.

I wonder how many LT-1 verts were made? Does it have the radio delete option? That was cool. Still I am a BBC fan.

Low miles.....LT1.....conVERTible...wouldn't it AT LEAST be worth in the mid 20's for that???

a non LT1 chrome bumper vert with low miles can be worth mid 20's....and this one your talking about is an LT1...I mean thats pretty cool.

Looks like there were only 7,121 71 verts made. Does anyone know the breakdown of engine configurations?

I'd like to know before I clone my L48 j/k
