I know my engine is not stock, the guy I bought the car off of said it was a 427 thats in the car. He also said that the engine is a factory replacement. I looked at the casting number and it says GM 6, I think there are numbers after it but theres a space after the 6 and nothing but faint marks (could be just small scratches). Sorry don't have pics. How can I tell if it is a 427?

Thanks, I know I have more valve cover bolts than 4, could that be a 427 and bigger? When the valve cover is removed i noticed i have some vary sized holes between Valves, and that they are similar sized on each head, and are inbetween same valves. Should I be worried? Sorry Big Blocks are new to me. I know the engine needs work. I bought it without it running and missing some components. I was looking for a project.
gdaina, thanks, still trying to get the hang of this(forum)
The holes are between the valves, and the heads are fully assembled. holes located at the front of the head, in the center is a smaller one, and at the end. identical to the opposite head's holes. But also looks like they were made, some small jagged edges.
