I have always noticed it takes a lot more force to push my 72 vette a couple of ft than my other much newer cars. I have always contributed this to being an old car with old technology(read heavy drivetrain components, etc.). Is this a true assumption or should I look at anything. This seems to me that it would take a lot more hp to get this car moving, and I want to reduce this(especially if there is a problem).
It used to be easy to push mine when I had the 5-speed in it (in neutral of course)..
Since I installed the 12-bolt rear end and automatic, it's much harder to push the car... I have no idea if this is normal..
If you're running 235 or 255 section width tires and they're a little low on air, your C3 will be harder to push. If you're air pressure is ok and your vette is still hard to push, try this: On lever ground push it a couple of feet forward, then push it a couple of feet backward. If it's a lot easier to push one way as compared to the other, your toe could be off. If so, it's gonna hurt your fuel mileage as well as prematurely wearing out you tires, but it's an easy fix.
lostpatrolman: I am comparing it to a 2000 acura TL(about 3500lbs).
Grandsport: Mine is a 700R4 automatic...(im trying in neutral, and you are the man if you can push yours in park....just kidding
techno: I am running bfg 255/60/15's
lowbuck72: running 255's and I just check the air. Interesting about the suspension..I just had mine re-aligned(hope the guy knew what he was doing). I did just jack up the back and the back tires seem to drag when I spin them....I haven't tried, but it would seem that it would not be easy to get them to spin a complete revolution(without a lot of force,,,this is probably normal with the disc brakes).
bobs77vet: The parking brake does not exist on my car
I appreciate all of your input. I just want to make sure there isn't something wrong with my car.
