Default Correct 1979 Hood Insulation?

Which hood insulation is factory correct for a 1979 corvette (early year model if that matters)?

I've seen both:

- Insulation that covers almost the entire underside of the hood
or
- Insulation that just covers part of the udnerside, usually stopping about midway towards the front of the car (so it's bare from about where the air cleaner ends to the front of the car).

Correct 79 hood insulation should cover just the rear half of the hood. Will get you a measurement if needed.
Mike

Measured it. 24"

I agree, my 79's build date is 10/30/78.

I thought there was a difference between L-82 vice L-48 hood insulation...mine is half way,but layout marks for round pin locations from factory are present on front part of hood..

This pic shows the "pin" layout...you can see at least three of them..I have owned this vette since it had 9000 miles on it. I just recently replaced the original hood insulation.I think the difference between the two are the air intakes..meaning the L-48 needs more coverage due to more exposure to engine heat..????
