Default Fuel Return Line ?

Ok, brain stall. My fuel pump only has one inlet. So now when the fuel tank is full and car is pointing down, gas comes out the return. I've had an electric pump on for such a long time I don't remember. Should I just cap it off? On 68's the gas cap is sealed, won't this cause problem?

You have a serious problem.
1st there is no return on a 68
2nd they have vented caps.

I have an electric too. Don't have any fuel dribble.

I'd plug the line and get a vented cap.

Thought '68 had a vented gas cap.
The return line connects at the top of the tank, be hard for gas to come back out. Should just act as a vent.
If the cap is vented should not be a problem in caping the return line.
Do you have the vapor line on the drivers side?

I capped mine and bought a vented cap. I didn't want to leave it open as a vent because of the gas smell in the engine compartment.

'68's do have a return line, here it is from the tank and goes to the top of the filter. And the original caps are vented, should say VENTED on it.

Then I either have a year change or some other tank. No vent line and the sender is on the bottom where the fuel line comes from.

Now that I think of it I don't have a fuel return line at all. Must be original since whos taking that out!

I think what you should do instead is convert to fuel injection. You already have the fuel return.

The return line was only used on cars with the Q-jet. If originaly equiped with a Holley then there should not be a return line.

Tom's got it right. Tripower (Holley) equipped cars did NOT have the return line from the factory. Rochester Q Jets DID have the return line.

Now, if things have been modified, all bets are off. Chuck
