Default 68 Speaker Sizes

I have a 68 convertible and I'mwondering what size speakers are in the dash and how many? What size are in the kick panels also? What size boxes has anyone been able to fit in the rear with the top down. If anyone can make a recommendation on specific speakers too that would be a bonus!

Thanks Guys
Chris

68's have no dash speakers. The kick-panel speakers originally were 4x10's. They may be hard to find, 4x6's work fine. If you want dash speakers, put in a later model dash pad, you will also need the pot-metal speaker mounts. 6x9's in low profile boxes will barely fit in back of a vert. with the top down.....G/L

I used infinity speakers in the dash , had to modify the speaker holes to fit the stock post , in the back built this box for some pioneer 5 way 6x9's

ive got a dash pad from a later model C3 in my 69 which now has 2 4x6's in it. word of advice if you plan on putting rear speakers in. it might seem like a good idea to mount a 6x9 behind each seat, but its not. it just gets too muffled doing that. id suggest putting them in the deck lids instead.

4" fit in the astro ball spots.
The kickpanels aren't big enough to take a good speaker magnet.
The doors fit at least a 6"
Back can take 15"s if you want to consume all of it for box size. I stopped at 2-12"s and still have 1/2 the room back there, which I never use.
Any woofer is dependant on volume of the box so that really determines the space used.
Amps under dash, behind seats in the cargo trench or near the hinges on a converable.

I Have rockford amps and kicker speakers, and rockford speakers and I don't know what else.
Just important to get quality amps and speakers, the actual brand don't matter.
Solobarics? and probably others work in a less volume requirement.
For picts bottom of pg 4
