I know that a lot of you have great sound systems in your vettes, and I'm getting to redo mine now, but where on earth do you fit more speakers and amps??? There's like no free space that I can find.
I made a MDF plate the size of the rear compatrnents, eliminated the individual doors. I am using (2) 3-way Infinity 6x9's. The amp is mounted between them. I have 3-way 4x6's in the dash. It rocks...I love the sound from the Infinity 3-ways. It is covered in black leather-like vinyl and looks great.

Had to do a custom job... went with the quarter panels in the front and a rear setup for the 6x9s and an amp. Sounds great...
Theres a previous thread on this where my pictures should be working but.
4 tweeters on the windshield piller. 4 were used just to ballance the load on an amp.
2- 4" mids where the astroballs were.
2-6" woofers in the door
2-12" subwoofers in a box not in the cargo trench.
2 amps and passive crossovers under the pass. dash
1 amp near the Verts cover hinge, nearer to the subs.
2-12" may be more than enough but found 2-10" not enough.
I kept the crap aftermarket 4x10s and can fade from the amped system to the "50 watts per channel" head unit & 4x10s. Like being on the sun or on pluto. (day and nite)
I wanted something that looks stock, but sounds great. The only thing I would do differently than is posted there would be
1. Larger main speakers, the 4" woofers aren't loud enough with the top down
2. I made this change already, I dumped the iRiver jukebox in favor of an iPod, the iRiver was too hard to navigate while driving.
I was thinking get some 150 watt 3-way 6x4s for the dash and kicker speakers, and then mount a sleek box in the back. Can I get amps under the seats in my '76?
I put 4 Polk 4x6 plates in the front (2 in the dash, 2 in the kickpanels), and a Bazooka 10 in the back. Sounds great, and doesn't take up too much space.
