can you use the electric fans off of a newer vette and or camaro firedird. or what other kind of cars with electric fans will fit a 75 vette with auto tranny and new factory style radiator.

I bought this fan at a swap meet for $10. The guy said it was from a C4 but who the heck knows... I 'rebuilt' the fan (took it apart, cleaned it, found it still had decent motor brushes). I had to build custom brackets for the fan, bolted it into the stock shroud.

You will also need a way to power the fan. A simple temp switch and relay would work just fine. I built a variable speed Pulse Width Modulated fan controller (I am a huge electronics geek).

Default Electric Fan Conversions

One of the more popular C3 modifications over the last 5-6 years has been converting the engine driven clutch fan with electric fans. Generally, one does a serpentine belt conversion too. We have used 1990-1996 C4 fans behind aluminum radiators, and have done a couple of C5 fans, since the supply of used C4 fan shrouds has about dried up at the swap meets.

See http://www.idavette.net/hib/bbfh7.htm for a C4 conversion. I have done this one and it works well. Also the C5 fans are supposed to be a nice swap too. A major limiting factor in my car is the front upper A-arm bolts.
