Gosh Corey, Nice to hear you are safe as well. I wish I could get into chalmette, but from my connections I hear it is bad down there. Chalmette still has 12 to 15 feet of water and the Police are guarding the boarder with Orleans to keep looters out. Most of the people down there rescuing people need cloths and food. They have been in water for 5 days straight and have not had food in 3 days. Its really bad all over the city.

Good to see an update to the story.

Don't know really though the wealthy part of the city (Uptown/Garnden District) had little damage other than tree branches.

I am sure you have been covered up. Glad you got some of your stuff back and made it back out safe. I bet the guardsmen were really surprised to see you and happy you left them some backup.
Don't be afraid to PM, I answer all of them. And thanks again for the support, it is MUCH appreciated.

For what I've seen Chalmette got hit hard, my 4ft of water is NOTHING compared to what you are going through. Once again let me know if you need anything.

Corey, not knowing anyone personally from NO I immediately thought of you when I heard about the impending disaster, which sadly has come true for you. Good thing you were prepared with weapons. Just a couple of questions. How are you sending these messages when I am hearing how all the phone service is down? Also, how did your Vettes fare? Lastly, I'm not wealthy but I'd like to send a couple dollars your way. PM me how to do so. Hang in there Corey.

I had a EMT friend who just came back from there he had a knife pulled on him while he was trying to help a woman having a heart attack. and he had two guardsman escorting him. they took care of that guy. he also said his co workers ambulance was stolen and another was robbed of all the drugs and then flipped over, I could care less if that type is ever rescued, let the gators and snakes take care of them.

Corey,
Also very glad to hear you are getting through it for the time being - stay safe and good luck to you brother (and to all of our other fellow citizens caught at ground zero of this inhuman National disaster).
I don't want to start a debate or flame war folks, but I am shocked, embarrassed and ashamed of the ****-poor way our government is handling this. I better bite my tongue at that before I really get mad and really unload. Enough said.

Its too bad that this is going on in the US. But some of you now know what our troops are going through every day. I just got back 2 weeks ago from my 3rd time over there. If you add IED's then you'll have even a better idea. Nothing like driving down and having some a** shoot at you for no good reason. If you want to see a vid of it just ask and I'll send you one of "live" stuff. My idea send troops in, then give locals set times they can be out un-escorted, aim, shoot. Take out some of the so called toughs and the rest will get the idea that now is not a time to play. That might seem a little on the extreme side, but after the crap for the last year I had to go through that will be a little tame to some of the stuff I've seen.

Hope it all works out. That is a compelling story. I'm sure you wont be inhabiting that house for quite a while. Hopefully, law and order will be restored before anything happens to it.
Good luck.
Good luck.

I'm shocked, embarrassed, and ashamed to, but not at our government.
Its at the lawless , looters, rapers, murders, snipers. gang members, thiefs, drug addicts that have raised their ugly heads in New Orleans.
Why don't you go down in the project where this is going on and meet with the above and and see what you can do to help them. I am sure you will be safe. You want need any help from your government.

It took a lot of nerve to go back there, I'm glad you're safe. Many years ago I was gonna be a cop in Chicago, everything was set but I backed out at the last minute after going on a couple ride-alongs with friends that were cops and saw that the slime ***** out in the street were worst than animals in the jungle and I would just as soon shoot them than take them to jail. I knew I would probably wind up in jail myself for taking out a few of those savages.
The authorities down there should hunt these punks down and shoot them where they stand!

Yep they should have called marshal law right off the bat and sent troops in. But oh no our troops are in the wrong place right now. .
Glad you are doing well Cory

SGT Kirk- thanks for serving.
it IS shocking what's going on, but if you really do believe that mankind is the result of a cosmic accident, and that there is no right and wrong, well . . ..folks, it's to be expected.
i don't believe either of those things, btw.
. . .and while i can understand stealing food, i have no tolerance for maggots shooting at the people evacuating a hospital.
aim center mass.

Thanks for the thoughs...
I'm 1.5hrs SW of the city at my parents house which is somewhat humbling since I've been on my own since 17. We have full power w/ central air here wich is good in 95degree heat. Phone lines are still acting up at times and cell phone towers are down. Luckily the cable modem I'm using seems to be up to par, for now atleast. Other than that I'm fine, I have my life, free room and board and a mother who's hobby is cooking so if could be worse. The Vette is safe and sound it's at the shop at my parent's home awaiting a patched up 4spd tranny.
As for the money I SINCERELY appreciate the offer, but I'm managing fine for now. It means a lot just to offer, but I'd rather you spend it on yourself or wife and/or kids because after this ordeal it made me realize how special my friends and family really are.
Thanks again man

Corey, good luck with all of this. We live in the Midwest and I really wonder with what we are doing to our environment on a daily basis if someday we will see some of these nasty storms you are seeing down south. As they say, reap what you sow. Until then, save the wave and enjoy every day!!!!!!!
