This is my 850. It's been down for about 2 months. The annular boosters are from BLP.com. A local guy with a booster installation tool put them in for me. I painted it using a little aerosol can hooked up to a glass jar that the paint is mixed in. I found it at a local auto paint supply store. I used Dupont urethane in black and red. I bought some Holley chrome bowls but there's some chrome in the needle&seat threads on one of the bowls. I ordered a tap (3/8-32) from a local bolt & screw company. Dunno when it's gonna be here but I'm in no hurry. I've also got dual 50cc chrome accelerator pumps on it. I dropped the jets by 2 numbers (78 to 76) and my air/fuel seems to be right on according to my multimeter and narrowband O2.
I finally got time for a little road trip today. It didn't go far since I have a full tank and don't know when I be able to get more gas for it without waiting in line for hours. Anyway, this thing really rocks!! It's got A LOT more throttle response down low and still just screams up top. For some reason it seems to idle smoother too, possibly because of the rebuild parts. I lugged it around corners in 3rd and it pulls smoothly no matter how much pedal it's fed. But the big difference is the additional response down low. It seems like it's got tons more twist in the lower rpms. If you've got the time and patience, I can highly recommend this to you carbheads.
I've got one more thing to do. It's goes lean for a half-second at throttle tip-in above idle. I had drilled the throttle plates 2 years ago. I think if I fill them that little problem will be fixed.
Oh yeah, I've got a carb hat I painted black that I'll use at shows & cruise-ins.
Good job on the carb. Looks pretty nice. Is it powder coated or did you paint it?
I wanted to get it powdercoated but the guy didn't want to do it because there was so much masking to do. Which told me it could be done but the price would have been too high. I used DuPont auto paint. It was fun learning how to mix and spray it. I was actually painting when Katrina rolled through. The power had been out for 2-3 hours and I was bored and had this paint in the garage...
