If I wanted a better handling, faster, smoother riding car I'd sell the '69 and buy a used C5 for about the same amount of cash.
I like driving a classic corvette, not a car that just looks like one......
Drive a "new" 1977 technology car, or something more modern, more reliable, quicker, stops better, corners better, is more insulated and cools better in a quieter cockpit. I'm for modified.
If it didn't leave BG on my car it don't belong on my car
Very well put SB69Coupe, even though my car is 14 years "younger" than your 69 I still enjoy driving an original, old car . My daily driver (01 Mitsu Spyder GT) will drive circles around my Vette: start, stop, handle and gas mileage but I'd hate to see it 23 years from now. I'd rather mod it!
Another angle to consider, if you have an original car in good condition I feel it's best to keep it original, cheaper as well. Modding is like getting a tat....once you start where do you stop! .
Granted, if I had the cash I'd love to pick up an un-original 80 - 82 and build the motor through the hood, stopping just before loosing right lane visibility! It'd be all show and some go and I'd be broke, divorced and saying "you want fries with that"!
I like the look of the stock Corvettes. So I leave mine in stock appearance. Maybe not original, but with original looking replacement items. There is some slight modification, adding chrome pieces to the engine, and better BFG tires, but for all aspects, it is still a stock looking vette.
original and have the parts that are changed to dress it up a little, not for value, will most likely never sell as old as I am, just really like original, but chrome valve covers and touches like that are ok by me otherwise stock. I do not want the extra power, would never race mine, the stock 300 HP is plenty for me. Hard to improve on perfection!!!!!
All original here
I would love to change the tires to the old firestove wide oval on my 69, but I will settle for a decent set of radials. I love the original look, esspecially the old radio, side exhaust! As far as dressing up the engine, I am quite satisfied with the original chrome details!
