Default Does your clock drain battery

What does everyone do about the clock draining the battery? There is a replacement clock in my 73 and if I don't drive it for a few days the battery gets pretty low on charge. Do people use a trickle charger?

Could be something else draining the battery. My clock does
not run the battery down.

A smart charger is a good idea, or hook up a battery disconnect.

My clock can run for a couple of weeks without draining the battery. Sounds like something else is draining it.

My clock in my 68 works perfect and does not drain the battery because I use a Battery Tender on all my cars. They keep the battery fresh without overcharging or cooking the battery. I can let a car sit for 6 months or more and the battery starts it right up like it was new. Good investment at less than $50.00 when you consider the cost of an original battery for my car.

My battery was running down after a couple weeks of not running the car so I picked up a Schumacher trickle charger at AutoZone $29.

Default Well...

I haven't let mine sit long enough to know if the clock kills the battery.

I suppose it's like tires. If you let them sit long enough they go flat.

I do the following:

1. Drive it.

2. Trickle charger and it keeps the battery as good as new.

I'm quite certain it isn't the clock but something else, and it isn't a radios clock either.

Usually its a glove box light or some other tiny thing that goes unnoticed. Production cars can sit for months without draining the battery.
I don't think a trickle charger is a cure or battery disconnect is either. First your plugging your car in like its An EVA the 2nd you don't have a clock! But really the time frame is too short for a trickle charger. You should be able to drive the car at least a week later with no special care.
