lol hmmmmmmmm it helps to counter ballance the car when just the driver is in it so it does not lean to one side lol.
Or it was placed that way so when a person is in the car the carb will look straight from the drivers seat lol.
But to be more true at the time the intake was made they designed it that way to try and make all of the cylinders have the same amount of fuel and air so you would not have to stagger jet the carb. Or that was the thinking at the time lol.
