Default replacing stock distributor cap

I noticed that my distributor cap is slightly damaged, so i want to replace it and the rotor at once.. I don't know much about it, and looking online at ecklers and such i am finding distributor caps with HEI. Is this what i want to replace my stock cap, or is this for a higher performance ignition? Thanks.

From the looks of your avatar your vette would appear to use High Energy Ignition, or HEI.

The older C3s use an older points system which is not compatible with the HEI. If your car is an 80 -82, which it appears to be from your photo, then a HEI distributor cap is what you should be looking for.

For regular parts like spark plugs, dist cap & rotors, it might be cheaper for you to get them from a local parts store. Like AutoZone, Advance Auto Parts, Napa, Pep Boys etc.

Save the exclusive Corvette vendors for "Corvette only" parts. Might save a dime or two.

No need to look elsewhere for ignition parts.
Just tell them what year your car is and what engine and you are set to go.

and how about for spark plug wires.. will they have the correct set with the custom length, or only a universal set to cut to the appropriate size?

they should have the correct wire sets, trying doing a search on their websites for piciing and availability; get decent cap, rotor and wires not the lowest price ones.
