Ok I was thinking about putting side pipes on my ’78. Now I know that side pipes were not a factory option for my year but whatever. I just would like to hear some of your opinions on this. Should I or shouldn’t I? Here are the ones I bought at the Carlisle show last Aug. for $150.00
and here is my Vette

I did just run into a problem w/ the side pipes…. If I put them on I will have an clearance issue with loading the car on my trailer. Anyone have any ideas on how to have the pipes and load it up on the trailer?

Actually I GAINED clearance loading my car on my car trailer. The long tobe headers I had would barely drag, not the probalem is solved. The only problem I hear people complain about is the noise level. But if you run quieter pipes this will not be an issue.
Looks like you got a C2 style pipes. Should look good.
As for clearance, test fit and see. What you have to be careful of is the lowest point midway between the wheels so you don't "high center" the car. My Hookers are no lower than the frame.
I recently put a sweet set of JetHot Hooker headers and pipes with STS baffles on my 78.....and now I just can't imagine having any other setup....looks AND sounds INCREDIBLE!!
Looking good. Did you get the mufflers and sidepipe covers for $150?? That's a great price. From the picture, the mufflers look like stock sidepipe mufflers. The covers look approximately like 1967 covers.
I like the sidepipes because they reduce cabin temperatures and they make working on the transmission and rear end so much easier. Also you loose a lot of weight. They are noisier. For me I don't care. I don't listen to music in my car. Only the traffic reports and perhaps news.

Wow! $150 for the whole works what a steal. I have factory side pipes on both of my Vettes and I have owned 5 Vettes in my lifetime and all had factory sidepipes. I would do a test fit with these pipes first. Do you know who the manufacturer is. They look similiar to the factory 67' type but are definitely different from what I can see in the picture. Try to find out who the manufacturer is anyway I would like to know. The pipes almost look like straight pipes. The pipes don't seem to be crimped like the 67' type. We put a set of factory 67' sidepipes on a 76' Vette last year with the 67' Covers but had to cut and weld the factory small block pipes to make them fit under the covers on that car but they look and sound nice and my friend is happy with the look. If your pipes fit the car I would go for it. Let us see some pictures when your done. Good luck with the project!
