Default FunFest Pit Stop

It was quite a ride down to FunFest!!

We left the Hinsdale Oasis at 07:00. By we I mean everyone but me and my wife. She had wandered off to the McDonalds and I had to run and get her and get her crammed into the car.
Well... It took a few miles but I finally caught up with everyone.

It was a blast running down Hwy 57. At one point there were 16 Vettes running together.

The pack was like a slinky. One minute we were all bunched together running 65 to 70 and the next thing you knew we were stretched out and I was running 95 to 100 to catch up to everyone. It was a total blast. Thank God I had over 1000 miles on my engine.

I was running between 75 and 80 and got passed by a cop. He wasn't a local cop and he left everyone alone. He passed us all and kept on going.

As we were running along we went by a rest stop and my wife was pointing at it and asking me "Hey, aren't we going to stop??"

Well we did stop at the next one and here are some pictures:

Chris, It was good to meet you and all the other CF members. Glad you all made it home safe. I only had the 100 or so miles to StL but those Ill HWP guy's made it exciting. Cruising along I70 minding my own business, this red mustang GT is hanging on my butt for more than a couple of miles. It was all I could do not to pull the Tremec out of OD and let the old Ramjet do its work. Glad I didn't! I opted to slow down to the point to force him to pass. Turned out to be one of Ill's finest HWP in and unmarked car. Damn they are getting sneeky. Bad enough the speed limit is ony 65 in Missouri's favorite neighboring state.

Getting to meet the other people from the forum was really the best part!!
I don't think you could find a nicer group.

It was sensory overload with that many Vettes.

Good thing you didn't smoke that Stang...

That sounds like one of those trips that I would love to make one of these days. Its always fun to run with the pack when it involves a long line of vettes.

I can't wait to get my 75 on the road. St. Louis is not too far for me to drive to participate in something like this. I have also seen the Ill. Highway Patrol in the unmarked Mustangs. Here in Mississippi, there used to be a Corvette Highway Patrol car... It was a C4... back in the 80's.
