Looking for a little help. Have a 68 Vert project going on. I know the factory rims were 15X7. I have a set of factory rims 15X8 with the 4 and 1/2 off set. The tires are bad and will be replaced but are BF Goodridge TA's, P205's. The problem is when these are mounted the tires in the front rub the steering tie rod end. The ones in the rear rub the lower portion of the spring. I tried to off set with a 5/16 spacer and all is fine except now only have about one lug nut worth of lug stud available. Might be able to use a 7/32 spacer plate but not excited about using a spacer plate at all. (All new studs have been installed). Question: are the 68's limited to the 15X7 rims and is the only way to get around this is to go with a spacer plate? Thanks for any input.
If they are real Corvette rally rims, they should fit fine. I have them on my 68 vert, and many other peeps as well. You should have not needed any spacers. Can you take and post pics?
Not at home right now so will have to do a picture later. I was told these rims came from a Vette. That may not be the case. They are the rally type rims. I have not heard of anyone having this problem and so suspect these are not Vette rims. I really wanted to go with the later model (79) or so alumium rims but have been gunshy because of this problem. Any thoughts? Thanks
