I have Homeowners, Federal flood and full coverage collertor car insurance. Will any of this cover my vette if it flooded from Rita. I'm in Houston and hope it takes another path.
If you were to buy insurance now - it would not be any good for about a month anyway. One thing that I learned is that there is structural flood insurance and then Contents flood insurance. If you only have structural flood insurance then your stuff is not covered (inside your house). You need to have the additional flood insurance for contents to get your stuff covered - not just the structure of the house.
Read the flood policy carefully. They are very tricky...I used to be a public adjuster in the NE and I have handled a few flood losses at the NJ shore. I am not an expert but I have read the policies and I have found out they have different requirements and definitions. ie basement, walk out basements, below grade etc. If you have a finished basement it may not be covered depending on how many steps etc. They normal don't cover finished surfaces below grade. I hope this helps. Good Luck..hopefully all will be OK
