Just got tuned by Lars!

Much better idle way a LONG shot, runs smoother, and has better response to it overall. Also seems to be getting up off the line somewhat better which was always an issue with this car even with 4.11 rear gearing.
First he checked what the timing was to start and found it WAY out. Than he pulled the distibutor and made a number of fixes to that including shimming up the endplay at the bushing, changed the springs, and I think one or two other minor things he did to it that I forgot already. As soon as he dropped the distributor back in we immediatly noticed a difference in the idle of the car - much smoother and easier and wasn't wanting to keep trying to stall out on us.
Next he pulled the carb, changed out the primary jets from the stock 65's to 67's, adjusted both the the primary and secondary settings (sorry, he made adjustments that I don't even know what the proper name for it is), changed out the spring in the diaphram (?) to a lighter spring, adjusted the float level, and reset the mixture.
Overall I'm thrilled with the improvement in the drivability of the car - it's the best it's been since I bought it 18 months ago.
THANK YOU LARS! And Thank you Stewart for hosting the tuning.
It was also great to meet a number of the members from here.

BTW, did you C3 guys at the tuning get the neighbors dog pee off your tires?

It was a pleasure meeting you today. I will try and get a few pics posted later and will get to work on those videos real soon. I'll let you know when the video of your tuning session is ready to go.
Glad to hear the car is running great. It sounded so much better just sitting there idling.

I'll be in touch soon. Have A Great Weekend!
Regards..................George

Anyway, here's one of Lars working on Barrys beautiful 65 coupe.
More to come tomorrow.

I did get a few pics of all the cars that were there though

I'll have the pics posted up on my site in a little while and if you want to send any other pics you have I'll be glad to host those pics also. Once you get me the video and could host that on the site also if you want or need.
Bob, sorry to hear of your troubles going home! You car looks great and I'm sure you will get her running again very soon. I managed to miss the rain on my way home but not the traffic on the turnpike!
Man, reminded me why I'm glad I no longer live around the Washington DC area anymore - I HATE traffic like that and The NJ Turnpike up north where we were is just too similar to the traffic in DC.

Nice car Barry, Lars did essentially the same to mine and what a difference.
We hope to get him back up here next year
I was the first car tuned, and it was amazing to watch lars in action. He IS trying to clone himself, by sharing all his knowledge and teaching while he is doing. I had to rush off to take this miserable traffic-filled 10 hour drive to Lynchburg VA (I am currently for real at a Holiday Inn Express!!!
) I have a few nice pics but I won't be able to post em until Monday. I guess they are still tuning today. I will provide my own details later, but it truly was a great experience and it is a fantastic event to attend whether you get your car tuned or not.
He did my Rochester for my 68 coupe resto project and I have owned the car since 1972 and it has never run so well. This man is a genius and the best part is that he willingly and freely spreads his know how to the rest of us so we can benefit from it. He is a decent human being and a hell of a mechanic. To bad there aren't more like him.

Thank god he didn't bring THAT hammer with him

I've driven to Lynchburg many times for business and the stretch of 95 between DC and Richmond and than 64 from Richmond out west towards Lynchburg have to be two of the most boring stretches of road to have to drive on the east coast as far as i'm concerned and I used to have to cover 7 states down there in my territory not to mention the traffic of course. Heavy traffic and boring road - not a good combo.

Lars has forgotten more stuff than us mortal's would ever be able to absorb. Hopefully he'll write a manual someday....kinda like those "How to Hot Rod Your SBC" books...

Also, the neighbor across the street had a modified C4. He wouldn't come over to join us but made sure he went out to his own Vette and "moved it" a few times. We were pretty sure he only did that so we knew he also had a vette like us.

One of the neighbors next to the house this was hosted at came out at one point, saw me, and said "Thanks for the car show today".
