I also have those "before" valve covers. Couldn't clean between the fins, so I painted flat/low-gloss black then polished the top of the fins. They look like a million $$$ now.
yeah, I spent a few days polishing those "before" valve covers, and I still wasn't happy with the results. Plus, I don't want to be polishing them every few months. The "after" ones are just temps. I'm still trying to decide what I want on there.

I'll take those "before" valve covers off your hands if you want them out of your garage...

Looks much cleaner. I can see u have given up on compartment heat. Not used much in TX i bet.
And how do u like that direct drive fan? Any problems with engine temps on hot days? I replaced my fan clutch with new AC Delco and works great. Also replaced all shroud seals. But have heard the flex-fans are just as good and 1 less part to wear out - a lot cheaper too. I think yours is solid-fan and imagine thats best for cooler but uses more hp.
Nice work. cardo0
The Dude Sorry, those have been gone quite a while now!
cardo0 I disconnect the heater during the summer, it's just too hot on a long drive. But I hook it back up in the winter.
The fan was on when I bought the car, so far I have only had the heat get up one time when I was sitting in traffic on a hot (100+) day. It is a flex fan (I think the FLX-1317 on Summit). I just repainted the center section.
Eventually, I plan on an electric fan but that is not a really high priority.
