It's for sale locally for $6000 obo with the engine in pieces and a lot of spare old and new parts. Owner says the paint is in real good condition, the interior is a little worn, and the top is great but the rear window is split because it was stored for the winter with the top down. He bought it for $8500 last year and tore the engine down because the head gasket blew. It's a 73 or 74 (can't remember)What do ya think?
Hi, Providing that the frame and birdcage etc. are solid, definately yes . In fact I wish I had a spare 6 G's laying around, I'd say go for it. Peace,,,,,Craig
The owner isn't a big Corvette guy but a local Corvette mechanic told him he'd give it an 8.5 out of 10 on structural condition. He said the frame was clean with no rust and the birdcage had some light rust in the rear of the passenger (behind the seat) compartment on one side but was otherwise clean.
Does it look as good as the pics indicate? Beautiful car, especially for a rubber bumper one. That chrome rack and pipes look nice on the car. Definitely buy it. It'll be worth twice what you paid with a motor under the hood. Hmm, BB would be nice.

Looks really good in the pics. Looks like it would easily be worth lots more than $6k with a good running engine in it.
You can tell a 74 from the split rear bumper on it. That is usually one of the dead giveaways for the 74 model.
I have kept tops down for months at a time and never cracked a rear window from doing so. Now RAISING or lowering a top in sub zero temperatures, I did ONCE crack the rear window.

Don't listen to him too much....get somebody you know to check out the frame and birdcage with you.....otherwise your just buying a parts car or a headache......
8.5k is a deal and 6k is real cheap for a '74 vert even with the engine in pieces.....why has he only owned it for a year ?????? why is he taking a $2500 loss when he could get it running and sell it for 8 grand or maybe more???
Do your homework...define what is meant by "light rust".....if the birdcage and frame check out, and you're mechanically minded (no doubt there will be some parts missing), then 6k is good value...........

Good luck
He bought the car from a friend that was in need of money quickly. It was a runner when he bought it and blew a head gasket shortly after. He collected a lot of parts and decided to completely rebuild the engine. It's been sitting ever since and now he needs money too. He's also selling his truck and a motor cycle.
As the car was complete before he tore it apart, I'm guessing there's not much missing. Unfortunately the side pipes have been removed, I beleive he sold them to a friend. Even if there is I have a 79 coupe I was fixing up for my wife which I will pull the engine and sell the body/chassis or part out the car. I've got parts! As I don't know the Corvette shop that checked out the car, I'm gonna check it out as best I can. Unfortunally I've gotta wait till next weekend because he isn't home thiss weekend and I'm gone during the week. The pics are from last year before the engine was pulled.
