How much POR15 do I need?
Ken
It did 2 coats for the frame as well as the diff, half shafts, brackets, and a bunch of little stuff.
It goes a long way when you brush it on.

I also used their marine clean and metal ready products and they worked great for me.
From what I read, the different colors are of different consistencies. The clear is the smoothest, the black is in the middle, and the silver is the best for filling and leveling.
I bought the semi-gloss black and about 1 pint was just barely enough for me to fully coat my entire rolling chasis for a single coat. If you were to do two coats, you might be able to do it with 2 pints but I would order 3 just to be safe. That would also give you a little extra to use for painting other odds and ends like the accessory brackets on the engine, the exposed areas of the bird cage underneath the body, and so on.
POR-15 is a great product. You'll definately be happy with the way it is going to look when you're all done.
This way, there is a good contrast, and you will easily see any areas that did not get top-coated well.
If top coating with a light color (like my gold gas tank) - black would be my choice.
I have had mixed results with the semi-gloss black.
On occasions, it has come out blotchy in finish.
I always buy mine in the 1/2 pint six-packs. This way, very little
is wasted. Once a can is openned, it's lifetime is limited.
Also with the six-packs, you can mix and match colors.
A quart sounds about right for 2 coats.
