Default No Ac?!

I bought my 80 corvette and it didn't have a ac system in the engine(just a few loose hoses) , what would it cost to fill this hole in my engine??

Does it still have the condenser (the big thing in front of the radiator)? Are the compressor mounting brackets still in place?

It doesn't have the compressor and I know that will be expensive. I think that the mounting brackets are still in place.

Just did my 79 over the past winter did all the work my self the best thing to do is find out how long it has not been working...then test the evap to make sure it is not leaking down...if the condenser is still in the car plug & test it as well you do not want to be chasing ghosts when you are ready to put the 134 refridgerant in...chances are pretty good it will need a new orfice tube as well...just the compressor & a couple of hoses should not cost too much since you are in the states...prices here in canada are awful on parts for air. e mail me if you have questions my air horror story is still very fresh in what is left in my mind

If you have it done(134 system) you are looking at $500-600.....assuming new compressor, accumolator etc..less condenser..

The compressor is relatively cheap. My condensor and evaporator were OK, but everything in between was not. It cost me a bit less than $1000 to replace compressor, hoses, drier, etc. I kept the R12. The shop was first-rate and not so cheap. But the system has worked well through 3 hot summers

We just replaced our whole system in the 74 a little over a year ago & the parts ran $1000.

Default no a/c

A/C?

who needs a/c when you have a t-top!!!

i removed my a/c, oh, and also the p/s

never liked the twitchy steering of p/s.

went with a flaming river high ratio manual box!

now i feel the road in my MOMO steering wheel along with the air.

do you have a part number ? Is this box smaller than (or as big as) the standart C3 steering box ? I'd be interessted in better steering "feel" but have to watch my header clearance. TIA

I would order a new condenser and hoses from ac Delco and get the other parts from the wrecking yard. Or get a new system from vintageair.com
