i'm kinda partial to the stock system. Its more fun driving a car that has bad mannors. I've been driving a rental the last month all over NY state and its so smooth it puts you to sleep. Boring just no fun at all.

Yeah, but you might need to chase your roof down the street
if a big storm heads your way.

I can't wait to drive mine regularly. 2 weeks until the last parts I need show up.

... and in Norval's defense: he does most of the work during his good horse riding season (ground is white).

Yeah, I don't understand those two guys either. It only took me 25 years of work to get my Vette how it is now and I have not touched it in two months or more.

I just drive it.

Man, I don't feel so bad about taking sooooo long on my car now! Maybe I'll let it sit in the garage for a few more months before I buy that leakdown tester and put it back together or rebuild it (depends what I find)

I've seen Norval alot over the summer and I must say, if you seen his car you would understand. It's the sweetest sounding beauty around. You can hear him comming long before you see him, with that blower peeking out of the hood, just wanting to be set loose. Besides that, he's a great guy just to talk to, always having time to answer question or give advise.

I agree big time. Along with having a very special vette that took years to develop...Norval loves helping others!

I've called Norval on the phone and told him if he didn't live so far away that I would come up and and kick his butt in any kind of race or drive. Then stay for a week or two and get all the best steering and brake mods done

Yeah, I agree, get those mods done and drive them thar Vettes. Mines been on the road for 3 years now and I am about to do 1200 miles this weekend. Meeting up with the South Australian Corvette Club in Mt Gambier for a weekend of shooting the breeze and cruising.
At least we can drive all year round :

Ack, three years and only 1200 miles and you can drive all year round? Darn, I did 900 miles in three months! If I could just keep it running long enough I'm sure I'd turn close to 2000 miles a year and that's with my wife complaining about the ~5 miles a gallon I was getting. I don't know *WHY* I ever told her that!

Read again Dath, I am going to do 1200 miles this weekend. Fuel is $1.40 a litre, $4.10US a US gallon. I have an overdrive equivalent to a rear end of 2.44:1 which helps a lot

You don't really believe that's the last parts do you. Everyone is looking for that part, but I don't think anyone has found it.

Thanks Glass Act, Carguy4sure and Doug. I like tearing my car apart. It is about as much fun as driving it. I looked at my towing bill last night and it was 1986 when it was delivered to my house. That's 19 years of building, driving in the summer and back to taking apart every winter.
What am I going to do with my spare time on those winter nights anyway?? I love looking forward to something. No way I could put the car away in the fall and not expect it to come out much improved in the spring . No way. I would loose interest.
My friends Carguy4sureand Vet R put their cars away roughly the same time and really dive into them to improve them. I have to keep up. We run from about May to late September and then it is take apart time.
I spend about $5 or $6000 each year roughly, sometime more so it adds up. o
Working on my car does not interfer with riding my horse, no way and yes winter is a great time to ride, no bugs , lots of open snowmobile trails and snow covered back roads, a great time.
I feel I have just about run out of modifications and suddenly I find all sorts. Yesterday I ordered Brodix heads for $3000, just about finished the Jeep box install, will start on a spreader bar next, hydraulic rear emergency brakes after that, go through all the rod ends and check for wear and replace any that have any play and then start on the heads. I will spend alot of hours cutting on them. I ordered a number of 6 inch long carbide aluminum cutting burrs to begin once the heads arrive.
I also plan on reworking the blower for more volumn if I have the nerve to start remachining a very expensive part.
NO if I don't come out in the spring with a much improve car my friends will run away from me and I don't get to play with them anymore.
George would also kick my butt so I have to prepare for that maybe some day. I was going with 14 inch brakes on the back also but am backing away from that for now. I might end up with too much brake on the car.
It' s a long winter between now and May 1st and I intend to use it making adjustments, improvements and upping the horse another 100 or 2.
Vett R has one mean little stroker but I hear roomers that he is replacing his already great heads and intake for something even more trick??
I also hear roomers that Carguy4sure might ****** up his heads and intake for his future 40????

I do find that driving at anywhere near the speed limit is boring and the only excitement is trying to triple the speed limit around curves.
Blame Vet R he is making me do it.
His computer is down so I can say anything I want and he can't respond or even now I am talking about him.

Oh, oops! Yeah, your price is high, I'm only paying about $3 per gallon, but at the ~5MPG I get, it adds up! Think I need to get some steeper gears, that 3.08 with a 2500 converter and the TH400 aren't a good match Maybe hook up the vacuum advance as well, that'd probably get me into the 10MPG ballpark (I hope!).

Touche - but a bit out of context.
I meant the last parts I need before I can start driving her.
My hood won't even be on, but I don't need that to drive legally, do I ?
The windshield and driver seat are key.
There are always new parts, unless the vette is just a trophy (not driven).
