For a nice street mahine like yours I wouldn't even settle for 355's. At the price of gas and your liking for traveling all over the country to car shows I would go back to the 308's or 355 with a 700R4 or 200R.
I already did the rear sway bar, the jeep box is almost to the point of just painting the cut frame. I did order new Brodix heads so that will involve hours of porting and clean up. I intend to rework the blower to up volumn of air flow, install hydraulic rear emergency brake, make a spreader bar, and that is not easy with the big blower belt, remove and inspect all rod ends and I have about 20 of them and pull the trialing arms for inspection and tighten up the rear bearings if they have changed their setting.
I will also replace the headers with a new set. It is a long winter anyway. A time to rest, no yard work, no outside house work.
Hope we get lots of snow for at least 2 months.
1. Get a job for extra spending money in college.
2. Fixed headlights
3. Spreader bar
4. Brake fluid recirculation setup
5. Getting parts for 4 speed conversion
I will probably think of more later.

i'm driving mine down to wichita falls in the first part of november and storing it until i get a place and a garage to work on it there. the plans are for:
-reflectix under the carpet
-new carpet and interior bits
-new seats
-200r4 trans
-sirius satellite radio
-fix winky headlight
-new tires (if $$ permits)
New carpet.
Seat covers if I can find some that look decent (I don't want to spend the $$ on new seats right now).
Replace a few other interior bits and clean, paint, or dye the rest.

Who are you getting your headlight's thru? I'm going to make the inserts but need to get the covers.
It's still hitting 100 degrees out here everyday...
Plus we get to drive all winter.
But I did pick up a set of C5 seats today to put in hopefully sometime in the next couple of weeks...
I here ya Desertdawg - I'm just waiting for the garage to cool off enough to start my frame-off. With any luck my non-AC car will be ready to drive about the time it starts hitting 110 again
mine is already on jack stands... por15 the frame...painting the engine aluminum... getting radiator boiled and fins straightened... and now finding a broken exhaust manifold i'll have to replace or repair that...
I have an Endurashine Edlebrock intake and Hooker ceramic coated headers sitting on the workbench ready to install after
"The Gathering II" at Lancaster Oh. Oct 9. The next day I'm tearing into it. Good luck to everyones endeavors over the winter months

I am still looking for the actual bulbs I want to use. I want to go with round bulbs but I need some that are smaller than stock since I am going to use a flat piece of lexan. I would like to go with the Lemans style headlights but I dont like the way they look on the rubber bumpered cars. This is what my setup is going to look like.
Im waiting on a hood to come in. Then off to the paint shop it goes! While it is getting painted I have to put the top end on the 540(shortblock is done). Then when I get it back the real fun begins...install engine and tko 600, install all the trim and windows, all new wiring harnesses, fuel system and then the interior. Man, I dont think I will ever get done. Feb.will be two years. I hope to have her on the road for the cruise in in May. Hey Eddie70, HELP!!!!!!!!!!
More of the same..weld...cut..grind...weld..cut... grind...fiberglass work...more welding and cutting....maybe some painting here and there....same as last couple of years

Thanks Norval for the kind words, to keep up with you, carguy and vette-r. I'll need to change the gears in the 79. But I now have the 71-454, 4 speed also, at least I can keep you 3 insight, even if the view is tail lights I'm also considering your advise on the tranny swap, it's a long winter so you never know.
For those who don't know these three guy's in person, I'll say this. There's no better sight than to see Norval, Carguy4you & Vette-R running down the road together, they all have awsome looking C3's and a great friendship.
