Prepping for winter in central Jersey...any advice on the best car cover for the unfortunate '79 Vette that doesn't have a garage? I'm looking at the MaxTech cover offered by Corvette America, $99 with free shipping. Thoughts?
i don't know about that one.. how whats it made of ?? is the car going to be in direct weather?? is it going to be on pavement ???
Here's the description from Corvette America:

I use light weight covers on all my cars, but they are all stored inside. Many years ago I also used a heavy weight cover similar to the one you are looking at. I found it worked great to repell water, breath to stop condesation. But after a couple of years I fould it failed to stop water from passing through it. I had to re-treat the cover with a water repellent spray to correct that issue. The cover got very dirty in time, so I washed it a few times, this may have caused it not to repell water.
But for the money and the use you need they work perfect.
I wonder if the cover gets damp, then you have a freeze overnight, what happens then ? I think I would not cover it in those conditions....I remember living in Chicago years ago when the door locks would be frozen sometimes..can imagine that cover froze to the vette...or so stiff...????

I asked this question a year or so ago. Someone who works for Kimberly Clark told me that if it gets washed in a machine that the repellent comes out of the fabric. This makes it no repel the water anymore. I have not washed mine but mine is indoors and is just gotten dirty. The cover listed here looks about as good as any I have seen. Just keep snow off. You can't protect it completly unless it is indoors.
Be careful with what the cover is made of. I put a cheap one (Walmart)on mine while it was waiitng to be worked on. It rubbed the paint off of the tops of the fenders.
