For my '78, this is what I do. I know our seat pans are different, but they probably mount the same to the floor.
Slide them all the way forward, remove back two bolts from the seat rails and floorpan. My '78 has a half inch headed bolt. Use a 1/2" drive ratchet with a real long extension for best results. Slide the seat all the way back and remove the front two bolts

The rear bolt closest to the door on either side has a nut on it. Or a least they did on my 1974. You have to stick a socket through an access hole in frame (underneath the car)to remove it. The rest thread into holes. Be careful on the re-install not to get carpet threads in the threaded holes. You may also have to slide the seat back and forth to get at bolts.
On my '82 coupe, the driver's seat has 2" long bolts that are secured from UNDERNEATH the floorpan using a nut and washer. The passenger side seat is secured with four bolts that screw in from the passenger compartment. There might be a flap of carpet over the front bolts. Yes, you do need to move the seat to the front/back of the track to access the 1/2 inch bolt heads. Its a fairly straightforward job. Be sure to disconnect the electric seat switch connector. Good Luck.

Can someone provide a simple set of instructions for removing the seats on a '76.
thanks
There is one bolt at each end of the seat rails, total of 4 bolts. Slide the seat forward, tilt the seat back forward, and remove the two bolts at the back end of the seat rails. Slide the seat back and remove the two bolts at the front of the seat rails. Lift seat out.
