If no one is able to answer this question, then I'll try to take a picture to make it easier. I have a 74 vette, and I need to replace the plastic "tube" that surrounds/houses the tachometer. In other words, when you look at the speedometer or the tachometer, the face is recessed in the back of a cylinder. That plastic tube/cylinder is cracked badly and I need to replace it, but I haven't been able to find it on any parts sites. Can someone help point me in the direction to find it?
You can ususally pick up an abused tach or speedometer on ebay for just a few bucks and get the parts you need. I think I got a complete tach for about $25 including delivery.
I bought a couple (one from ebay and a speedo and tach from Bloomington) just to learn how to put the needles on and off without risking damage to my known "good" tach. I paid about $250 to have Corvette Clocks by Roger rebuild a tach and rereline it to 6500 and he gave me a piece of crap so I ended up using just the high redline face on my original 200,000 mile tach that still worked fine.
