I feel like a shift light would be very helpful anytime I feel like being agressive, be it at the track or on the street.
I want the interior to look as stock as possible so screwing a shiftlight to the pillar or dash is out of the question.
My idea is put a few LEDs in the deroster vent. When they light up it will reflect off the windsheild at eye level.
-First of all do you think this will work?
-What is the least expensive way to do this?
-I also am thinking it would be cool to have a line of 5 or 6 LEDs maybe the first 3 amber and the rest red... so t will sort of build up to the shift point
You won't see the LED's in the daytime. I suggest getting one of the slim pen-type shift lights, and clip it to the sunvisor. It is very bright, you won't miss it.
I use a shift light on mine but it is easily taken out. I have quick disconnects for the wiring and it is clamped to the steering column. I can have it on or off in about 5 minutes. I use a shift light because the stock cable driven tach is worthless when going through the gears. They bounce around so much I can't tell if it is 6500 or 5500 rpm. Also I don't have to look down when I shift. I keep my eyes down the track and when I see the bright light I shift. It has made my times much more consistant.
