My daily driver is a 2000 Cherokee. Don't have a picture of it, but it's Patriot Blue with aluminum wheels. 6 cylinder engine/5-speed manual transmission. Nice ride.
1990 Wagoneer Limited, leather, power everything, Pioneer MP3 deck, 4.5 Rough Country lift, 31 10.5R15LTs, Rubicon Express trackbar. For being an entry level rig it's easily built way more solid than any GM I've ever owned, 160,000 miles and the door have a real solid feel to them still. AMC!!!
Currently drive a 2000 Grand Cherokee Loredo fully loaded with 235 hp V-8. Prior to this, it was a 1990 Grand Wagoneer fully loaded, with 360 CI that put out a whopping 147 hp with a 2-bbl carb as it was so overloaded with smog equipment (among the last of the carbed vehicles). With 89,000 mi., this car was sold to a Japanese buyer for export to Japan. (I've also had 2 Corvettes go to Japan but they want more than just our Corvettes.)
Prior to that it was a 1977 Grand wagoneer with the same 360 CI that put out 175 hp with a 4-bbl and burned regular leaded gas (last of the leaded vehicles). (Would run rings around the 1990.) This was to pull our 25' Flybridge sedan boat. I ultimately traded the boat for our 1st Corvette about 22 years ago that I still drive, a '64 coupe. We put the Doug Nash wheel lock-conversion/overdrive in the '77 and it helped gas mileage. All of the big Wagoneers I had suffered from REALLY POOR gas mileage (like <8 city and <10.5 fwy).
love my Jeep! I drive it daily more or less....taken offroad more than I can count. I just bought a new motor, clutch and fuel injection conversion for it last week and I am making the swap in a couple weeks(the engine currently leaks about 2 quarts of oil a day! pcv system was clogged and it basically compromised all my gaskets) has 187,000 miles so I opted for a new motor instead of new rear/front main seals and oil pan seal. in the spring I am adding a 3" BDS lift and some 33's. down the road I plan in putting an ARB air locker in the rear also.
I kinda wish I had a 4X4. Unfortunately, with so many tree huggers here in the area, there's not really any trails to go 4x4ing on. I've got to make 100 mi+ trip to go off roading out here.
I dunno if I'd get a Jeep; there's a lot of parts out there for them, but I'm kinda partial to the Land Rover Discovery (yeah, I know, it's quite a bit more than a stock Rubicon or CJ7, but it's got a decent amount of travel, most have a transfer box from the factory, and I can take a family of 4 out without having to put a vinyl cover on).
At any rate, that's a pipe dream; the Vette's costing me an arm & a leg.
I stuffed up in the last post, I was going to post a pic of my 96 Cherokee but put Vett rear instead. Anyway picture of my Jeep at work in north west Australia and current picture of my 71 Vett.
