Howdys everyone, New guy here, just got my Dad's old '68, and I'm not much of a mechanic, nor rich, so I expect this place to become a frequent hangout for me while I learn how to fix it up
I have not fired it up quite yet, but I did have a question. It appears that someone has hit something....
What would those bumps be between the headlights and the hood? I assume that is a result of the impact.
to fix it the correct way you will need to remove a section of fiberglass to expose the old corroded rivet heads. Then you will need to remove the old rivets, clean the metal bracing and fiberglass pieces, install new rivets and bond all of the fiberglass back in place. Here's a pic of mine with the fiberglass removed exposing the area where the rivets are located.

Welcome to the Corvette Forum. Probably the best forum on the web for any kind of info corvette related.
Cool car and you will be making your dad proud by taking on the project and returning the vette to its former glory. It does look to be the rivets that are showing through the fiberglass. If I remember correctly, the factory did not have a glue that was strong enough back in the days these cars were being constructed so rivets were used. I believe now there is a glue or epoxy that is made for this, I am not 100% sure on this. Either way, looks like you will be doing a little fiberglass work on the nose any way. Good luck with your project and keep us posted on your progress.
Ah, so I would not need to get a new fiberglass part? That will be cool. It will be a while until I get the cash to start messing with the body, just trying to get it started still
