Fab a plate of 3/16 sheet metal, as long as needed to over-lap the correct support location by 3 inches both sides.The width should be as large as possible. Scuff the inside of the hood, and the plate with 40 to 80 grit paper. Use slow-curing epoxy to bond the plate inside the hood. After it fully cures, finish off with medium grade mat and resin over the repair as necessary. Now you can drill and tap the plate to receive the support hardware. G/L

thanx bigg, what i did was make a piece exactly like the sheet metal that was there outta stainless and tack two hex nuts to the back to hold the screws for the the hinge... can i do what you suggest with the stainless as well??
