Default 1970 number matching

I have a 1970 454BB, I was wondering where do I find all the numbers that are supposed to be matching, so that you know if you don't have a car that has been pieced togeather, and where can you see when and what number your car was built.

scuba900:

There are only 3 components that have a partial number that would coincide with part of the complete vin, that is riveted to the drivers side winshield pillar post.

The engine block, the transmission case, & the chassis frame. These 3 items would have a partial vin derivative that would contain the same digits that are in the vin plate, that is seen thru the winshield.

Every other component, ie: intake manifold, carburetor, head, waterpump, etc, will have casting or stamping #'s that are correctly stated and dated for the particular year model.

Best to order from NCRS, a Technical Information Guide and Judging Manual from this organization. Cost is $30. Really well worth it. This manual is for 1970 thru 1972 Corvettes.

Here's an on line list of the codes, and you might register it in the registry if you haven't already.
