I just wanted to find out where everyone keeps their cars and where they work on them.

Since I got the car when I was rather young and in school, its been in mom's garage, my in-law's garage (even before they were in laws) in stoarge units, and finally the last couple of years, in apartments or duplexes with a garage (generally a deal breaker)...not the best policy, but I can definitely put up with some crap if my car is safe...

The cars that I am working on are kept in my garage. When I am not working on one, I keep it at work in a secured garage under a car cover. I will usually keep the 72 and the 73 in my garage, and my 86 at work since I also use that as a daily commuter 2 or 3 days a week.

Disassembly and final assembly are done at my garage.

Small parts refinishing is also done in the shop.

Frame restoration as well as frame/chassis/driveline reassembly is done at a friends shop (he's got more space than I do, plus a paint booth).

The body/paint work, driveline machine work, and some of the plating work are subcontracted out.

The process has worked pretty well so far.

Regards,

I've got a 14" x 24" foot insulated workshop in my back yard. I had it built a month after I bought my house over two years ago.

It's Nothing fancy but it does have a slick conctrete floor, ceiling speakers, insulation, heating and air.

I keep it in my own garage so I can work on it in the winter, also admire it sitting there.

Not a lot of choices when you live in a condo in Party Town, and with no place to work on the ride yourself.

Mine is kept in a new 10X30 climate controlled security garage with its own sprinkler and alarm system at a small vehicle storage complex that has resident caretakers onsite 24/7/365. Its only a half mile from home, but runs me $220/month. Since there is no power available in the garage and not really great lighting, all work on the ‘73 has to be farmed out. Makes for a fairly expensive toy that is only taken out when the urge calls, so I am glad I bought one in really great condition that only needs to be driven and not rebuilt.

If I had a place to keep it where I live, it would be a daily driver now that I am retired, but the body has lot's of creaks and groans now so still wouldn’t allow doing a lot of the work on it myself anyway. I got that out of my system pretty much with the four C1’s I had and rebuilt years ago, so this one will be just for cruising.
