i had the same dent there in my new frame ..when we built the chassis ,,,we pulled it out and used por-15 puddy to get the thing looking as even as possible,,,thats why you shouldnt use a floor jack there ..and i always remember.. so i dont crack the por putty... use a dent puller and order some puddy from a por-15 vendor .there using it also for repairing rusted out holes in windshield frames, stuff drys hard as a rock-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Paragon has the repair panel you need. Grind off the dented panel from the bottom of the cross member and weld this panel in its place. Why buy just a tool to repair what you have that may never look right again, when you can buy a correct reproduction repair piece?
I wish these were available when I was restoring my frame!
For all you guys who are worried about scratching your frame with a floor jack I have a solution. Hockey pucks!!!
Hard rubber hockey pucks fit nicely between the frame and the jack and leave no marks. They are pretty cheap about $2.00 and they last forever.
Very good idea!!! I'd been using small sections of scrap 2x4 between the jack stand and frame but it sounds like hockey pucks are the way to go! I'll bet these would work well thrown on the lifting pad of my floor jack too and much cheaper than the floor jack pads that Eastwood sells (that cracked on me after about 3 uses).
