Default Muffler help!!!

I had a pair of flowmaster 40's installed on my '76 yesterday at a muffler shop, and today I noticed that a lot of dark smoke was coming out of the passenger side muffler! What is going on! When I stop you can see a lot of it coming out. I felt to see if anything was coming out of the driver's side, and it is coming out there. Any ideas why it would be doing this? Perhaps something inside the muffler? They aren't new, they came off of a Mustang. Thoughts? Help?

Black smoke and soot == rich fuel mixture ... check the carb.

Blue/gray smoke == oil burning ... check rings and valve seals.

... hope it is nothing like Ferris Beuller's Day Off.

agree with above....

did it smoke with the old mufflers or did you just not notice ????

Maybe the Mustang guy left something in the muffler for you

It would seem that way... it isn't smoking anymore so I guess that the Ford guy thought that the mufflers needed oil too.... typical.
