Default anybody else?

Seems like I spend a good portion of my day thinking about the projects I need to finish on the vette. I just posted the other day about thinking my front bushings on my trailing arms need looked at. Seems simple enough, just jack up the car and have a peek. Maybe have a buddy lift and pull on the tire to see if/where there is slack.

So why don't I just do it? i spend so much time at work on the forum, asking folks, and visualizing myself doing the work, contemplating the best plan of attack, but can never figure out why I go to bed at night and without even stepping foot into the garage!?

I don't really have that much stuff going on at night..........

If you are something like me - you got a lot of crap to go through just to make it to the garage. I have to help aorund the house and then get to go over homework with the kids, eating dinner is in there as well. After picking up my daughter from school, I dont get home till 5:30 or 5:45 - then dinner has to be started. Its 8 or after before I even get into the garage. Get to bed between 10:30 and 11:00. 2 hours depending on the size of the project that I am working on - is sometimes just enough to get everything pulled out, work for an hour or so and then start cleaning up again.

It is hard to get motivated like that. That is why I take an ocassional day off to get into the garage (like tommorow - sounds like a perfect day to me). I think that I will finish the assembly of the wheel bearings, control arms, lower shock mounts, e-brakes, 1/2 shafts and see if I can get it on the ground.

I may even take a shot at polishing the wheels one more time before they go back on the car. Just to see if I can get just a little more shine on them.

I start most mornings at 5 or 5:30. I cant tell you the last time I made it past midnight - let alone past midnight in the garage.

late at night is my favorite time to work on cars. When your half asleep you can come up with some good ideas.

I learned not to plan on doing anything at night anymore. Now I save it for the weekends. I plan on doing only 1 day...either a Saturday or Sunday, and spend about 6 hours at a time devoted to one of the cars.

And it helps to be single in this case...no one to bother me or complain about how much time I spend on my cars.

Couch usually grabs me after work and won't let go.

If I had a 4 post lift I would get much more done, jacks and creepers are getting old.

Weird, I thought I was the only one afflicted with this "thinking instead of doing problem" with my car on weeknights. Then I get to the weekend and start watching a football game and there goes Saturday...

I have it all planned out. Get the A/C fixed, tach board installed, get the car painted, then put it in semi-hibernation until next Spring. For some reason, I can't or won't make it happen. I'm so unmotivated and don't know why. I'm a little depressed that summer is over. Hate cold weather and short days. Don't know when it will happen.

my thing is ordering the parts. I keep parts books all over, so I'm looking and looking. When I get around to ordering, I get excited when they arrive, and normally get the stuff done in a few days...
My wife aslo doesn't mind if I spend hours with the car, as she goes shopping.

I don't bother to go out to the garage during the week any more, only to be interrupted every 10-15 min with questions...not worth it. Or my beeper goes off. Then I forget where I left off. Very frustrating. Oh, and I'm usually the one making supper too, although my wife think she makes supper m-f. I try to convince her that Subway doesn't count.

Try think about having to think about three Vettes, schedule and plan projects, mainly for every other weekend because I choose to spend time with my nephews that visit every other weekend.
Sometimes just planning to drive one or two of the three during the week to keep them warmed up and batteries charged can be hectic.

I here you RubyShark. After last Sundays Hard Rock Show and the 'FLAT' the car sat till Wednesday and I finnaly got the tire to the shop for a checkup. They didn't find a problem, so they just popped it off the rim and resealed. The tire sat in the garage til today and after working all morning at a customer I came home and changed the tire. and adjusted the rear spring and tighten the steering a little. Went in and talked to NeedleShark about the 'Need For Speed' and we went for nice little ride with her behind the wheel. She realy likes driving that car.

This is me for sure. When I lived with my parents "between colleges" last year it annoyed my dad greatly, I would eventually start working about 10 or 11! And of course be up to 3 or 4... Some of it's the ADHD, I get hooked into doing a hundred other things "on my way" to the garage.
