Default What's a reasonable price for my '79?

I've been trying to sell the Vette for about a month now, but haven't had much interest since I initially put it up for sale.

See my For Sale post for details on the car:

I also have it in AutoTrader and the local paper. Am I priced reasonably at $7500?

Thanks,
Jason

Reasonably priced for all the work you have in it? Yes, absolutely.

However..."John Q. Public" doesn't give a hoot about your hard work. He wants a good-looking car and, although your car probably runs like a raped ape, it isn't too eye appealing to "Mr. Public".

I'd clean up the engine compartment, polish the wheels and throw a coat of wax on it.

More importantly, though...how did you fit that air cleaner under the stock hood? Everyone I've asked, including Edelbrock, says ... I want one!

You can adjust the hood latches to give you about another 1/2 inch of clearance without being noticeable. I don't know if you can tell, but there's also a 1/2" spacer below the carb - that gives you an idea of how much room I have. However, when the engine torques over, the cover rubs just a bit - you can see it in the front right of the cleaner in that picture.

There may be couple of things that deter potential buyers.
One is the paint. Might be better to have a cheapie paint job. Add that into the asking price of the car.
The engine seems potent. There are some buyers that may like to have something a little less agressive. Some buyers would see the engine mods as a major reason to buy it.

First impressions are everything and while you've done a ton of work, the car looks a little rough. Spend a few hours cleaning it up and take some new pics. If the paint is just oxidized there are some great products out there that can pull a great shine out of it.
