The Porsche north America Corporate offices used to be located here where I live. One day out at the race track their were all kinds of new high powered Porsches going around. I ask what was up with all these cars and drivers. It was a owner driving school for all the high end cars. Apparently along with the price of these cars they through in a high speed driving school because of how dangerous these twin turbo models can be.
I saw this professional driver put two wheel off in the dirt and gravel at 120 mph and stomp on the brakes just to show the owner that you can keep the car going straight with only two tires on the pavement. They even had a big water truck to simulate wet driving conditions.
I recently asked Dick Guldstrand what he thinks about the new Z06. His responce was that is too fast, and he is trying to convince GM to include driving school with the purchase of the car.

If someone with expert status (Dick Guldstrand) has a belief that GM should provide training to Z06 buyers, then perhaps an attorney representing an injured plaintiff will use this statement to try to attribute liability to GM for selling cars that are beyond the capability of non-trained buyers.
Actually this matter has been a concern to GM in the past. That's why they stopped selling the L88/427, and the 454 version, and other super cars to the public.
Actually I agee about training. The general driver does not understand that you cannot get in a "superpowered" car and stomp the gas petal to the floor if you are say trying to change lanes on a damp road or on a road with a little loose gravel, etc. Maybe the car companies could offer super car buyers some driving time in a simulator.
and to think..the car died short of reaching it's walhalla... where it happened is only a few miles short of the german autobahn (no speed limit on that section) too bad the driver is such a lousy chauffeur
Heard about a similar thing happening with a Carerra GT at a US track. I think the owner and instructor died, but I'm not positive. The pictures looked like it was one very major wreck.

There's no way to stop a lawsuit based on that. If someone was trained, given the ok, and still crashed, then an attorney would sue the training company for one reason or another. Someone driving a ZO6 at the designated speed limit should not need any additional training.

Last night on Rides, Jay Leno and some professonal driver were at Taledega Speedway trying to set a record in the Carerra GT. They must have siad 100 times how dangerouse high speeds are. At one point Leno lost control at 180mph and sup 5 times. He didn't hit a wall, but I bet his tighty whities weren't so white anymore!
Jay got back into the car after that and went even faster latter on. Earlier the narrator made a comment that sometimes in racing it's more impotant what's under the lapbelt than the helmet. LOL
From: Who says "Nothing is impossible" ? I've been doing nothing for years.
Z06 is big time power and if someone gets into one after drivng 275HP ricer he is in for a suprise. Unfortunatly this is not going to be the last accident in those cars, power has to be treated with respect it can come up and bite you
The owner of the local Ford dealership here wrecked a new Ford GT that had just come off of the trailer the day before. He was on his way to a country club to show it to some of his high end customers.
There is always someone with more money than brains and or talent. First off he had no experiance in that car being brand new so even a veteran might get out of control. If you think buying a new vette is bad look at the people getting big sport bikes with no riding experiance, that is an accident waiting to happen.Glad no one was hurt bad.
I was just reading about this on the GTM boards a few minutes ago. Apparently another Z06 was totalled here in the states also
a brand new Z-06 was just totalled down here in PR this past weekend.
the owner and his passenger were both killed, along with the driver of the Mustang they were racing against, and an innocent driver of a Toyota Highlander too.
the passenger of the mustang is in critical condition.
apparently the hooligans in both mustang and Z-06 were in posession of illegal guns. the driver of the Z-06 was a local drug dealer, and both wrecks are in possesion of the feds because of this
Okay, the driver wasn't the owner, I think the car was still owned by the importer (Kroymans, official importer of corvette and cadillac for europe)
The driver was a 21 year old employee
Man seriously, who in his right mind lets a 21 year old who probably only has had a licence for 2,5 years tops (can't drive before you're 18 here, can't even take lessons till you're 18) and no experience whatsoever drive a 505 HP car. Maybe it was a good thing he never made it to the german autobahn, he would've killed someone with his driving skills
That goes to show the backwardness of not letting people drive before 18. You're more likely to think of someone as an adult when they're 21, but responsibility alone doesn't make a driver. I'm glad that at 21 I have 7 years of driving experience. (learner's permit at 14 in Kansas) And that's not including steering while on my parents lap as far back as I can remember.
As far as being a mature adult... well that's up for debate
