Default Floorpan Problem

I'm a newbie to the forum so if this problem has been discussed recently, I apologize.

I recently started restoration on the '73 I purchased last year and when I removed the seats, to my dismay , the metal seat belt anchor plates were badly corroded to the point of disentegrating, particularly on the underside.

Anyone have any advice on how to handle this??

Thanks . . . rondo73

its e/z, there in the catalogs, i think i got mine from corvette central or zip,,you'll need the large headed rivits,,drill out the old rivits,,and replace the reinforcement plate,, i put a couple coates of por-15 before i installed mine, because theres a drain hole in the fiberglass so water can drain, and it goes to that plate,,so you may want to protect your new installation like i did.. after the por dried i simply reinstalled the plate and rivited it in,, thats one of the e/z er fixes on the 73 ,,hows body mt #4's reinforcement plate??? mine was completely gone and the fiberglass blew out as the mount went thru it!!!! and we reglassed that and put in a new reinforcement plate(por-15 that too!!)look here how bad my 73 was,,thru frame in garbege can...also if my memory serves me i sealed the edges of that plate to the fiberglass and there's one dip in it where i didnt seal that lets the water out-----http://www.geocities.com/carlclub2/-----------------later ..... carl

Thanks for the info. I didn't realize that the seat belt anchor reinforcement was a replacable part. Can you tell me what the actual name of the part is? I've never run across it while searching suppliers.

By the way, great pics. I noticed you are using a 700R4 tranny. What shifter are you using? I have the same trans in my '73 but the stock shifter has only 3 Drive detents.

ill look up the part for you and get back in a little while,as far as the shifter its the same one, only you have to get the new plate that allows you to have all 4 positions 1 2 3 and od then neutral reverse and park, they sell them at boetie overdrives and then you also get the decal so it says all of those and looks like it came that way,,,you now have a 4speed with a 3 speed shift plate you need the 4 speed plate ,,some guys file it, i just buy the correct stuff and baggie the old for the furture,as far as the seat belt plate,,,its in corvette centrals current catalog that came out last mth,,, catalog # 3 f,,,page 133 picture in lower right corner part #483136(left or right)72-73 underbody seat belt reinforcement $59.75 a piece,,,,go to the left on the home page for the forum where on the left all the vendors are ,,,click on corvette central and when there site opens enter the part # and do a serch,,,a photo will come up of the plate were talkin about,,,while your there click on ''get a catalog''and fill out the mailing info,,,,thell send you the new catalog in 3 days,,,i just got mine called last monday had it by thursday
