Over the next 6 months or so, been toying with the idea of a mural on the underside of my hood. I can go either way..problem is, the murals I have seen over the years, many of them, just don't seem to be done well....guess it's the artist you pick, the theme you go with etc....I have seen some really HIDEOUS ones, where i look at it and just "shake my head"...
How about some thoughts on this...and also ideas as well....
Performance is also real important to me and I am trying to work on both together.....

if you want a referral... Luca Paganico who owns Custom Creations is pretty much in the national champ in custom airbrushing if you want it done beautifully and that doesn't look dated or cheesy. You could at the very least ask his opinion.
I don't care for underhood murals either. Maybe something simple like a bowtie, but not a complicated one IMHO. I also do admire people who can paint that well. Not sure how long it would hold up on a car that was driven much.
When the hood is open, all attention should be focused on the engine. I think murals are just distracting. When I see that at a car show I shake my head and walk away before even checking out the mill.

would that work? most of those mirror setups are just set up temporarily for the show. is that chrome paint as reflective as a mirror? i haven't seen it. can someone photo chop this? i can't imagine if it would look good or cheesy.
Bryan27 I like your idea about a merrier under the hood.
I would like to get a good artist to airbrush a picture of the engine, on top of the hood. Like you are looking strait down on it, so that the hood appears transparent. Also on the sides of the car showing off the side of the engine, the drive train, frame, and suspension.
If you stood back and looked at that, the car would look transparent.
