Default 68 washer pump question

I saw someone selling a washer pump complete (nos) and he said it was for 69-72. Why would 68 be different? AL.

...don't know if you're including the pump part too, but '68's were a one year only washer pump/wiper motor set-up that had an extra wire.

The 68s were wired to have power continuously to the motor until the wipers are closed - even if the key is off. I guess this resulted in burned out motors when things were slightly out of adjustment. The following year the motors were wired differently...

The design of the pump looked to be the same so what would be the real differance in the pump it self between 68 and 69? AL.

I'm not to conserned about the lines coming off the pump to feed the nozzles but the wiring it self. I can't use the new style pump with the straight out spade connections because of clearance issues with the igntion shielding. The correct syyle usea a round barrel style connecor, AL.

68 completely reversed the wiring from normal. Power- battery plus is ground, its on all the time. Ground- battery negative is the control wires. All those wires are basicly ground wires not positive.
You would have to study the wiring diagrams for both to make sure it worked. I don't think it will.

The 68 apparently don't have a park safety switch for the door/wiper, I assume the park system internal to the motor is the exterior park switch the other years have.

If being accurate isn't too important you could get a washer pump, external self powered, and plumb it to the bottle and wire it to the motor. They don't cost much. You could even find one in the junk store that has it mounted to the bottle.

Your right, there is a separate external switch, AL.
